Frequently asked questions

Can you view IRS notices online?

Many recent notices appear in your IRS Online Account, but not all do. The paper letter you receive is the official copy, so keep it and act on its deadline.

What IRS notices are not available online?

Letters from revenue officers or examiners, some older notices and certain business notices may only come by mail. If one is missing online, rely on the mailed copy.

What does an IRS notice resolution letter look like?

A good response names the notice and tax year, states whether you agree or disagree, explains each disputed item, lists enclosed proof, and is signed and sent by the deadline.

Can I get an IRS notice resolution sample or example?

Yes. We provide a response outline after your free review, built from your own notice, because generic templates often miss deadlines and required forms.

What is the IRS CP53E notice?

It says the IRS could not deposit your refund by direct deposit and will mail a paper check instead. Check that the bank details on your return were correct.

What do IRS notices 1482 and 1462 mean?

Numbers alone can be forms or letters. Upload the document and we will identify it from the full text and deadlines, not the number.

Should I ignore an IRS notice if I disagree?

No. Disagreeing is fine, but you must say so in time. Silence can lead to assessment, interest, penalties and collection.

Are you the IRS or a government agency?

No. Noticefix is a private firm. We link to official IRS and government pages so you can verify everything yourself.

Should I hire a tax relief company?

It depends on your balance, your filing history and how comfortable you are dealing with the IRS. Simple balance-due notices can be handled alone. Levies, unfiled years, audits or large balances usually justify professional help. Whoever you pick, get the scope and fee in writing first.

What if I have not filed taxes in several years?

File them. The IRS can prepare a substitute return for you without deductions or credits, which usually inflates the bill. Resolution options generally require you to be current on filing, and the IRS commonly focuses on the most recent six years.

Can the IRS take money from my bank account or wages?

Yes, but only after required notices, which include hearing rights. Notices such as CP504, CP90, LT11 and LT1058 are the warning stages, so act before they escalate.

Is it possible to reduce what I owe?

Sometimes. Penalties can be removed through abatement, and qualifying taxpayers may settle through an offer in compromise. Tax and interest are normally owed in full otherwise, so we verify what is actually removable before promising anything.

Do tax relief programs hurt your credit?

Payment plans and settlements are not credit accounts. The consequences come from unresolved debt, liens and collection activity, which is another reason to resolve notices early.

How much does it cost?

Pricing depends on the work involved. We review your notice, confirm the scope and quote a fee in writing before any work begins. See the Pricing page.

How do I cancel?

You can end an engagement at any time by written notice. Your agreement explains how fees for work already completed are handled.

How is Noticefix different?

We focus on IRS and state notices only, we verify your account with transcripts before recommending anything, and we serve taxpayers with cross-border situations such as H1B, OPT, NRI and green card holders.
